New rescues

Post by Star on Fri Mar 16, 2012 3:05 pm

Gosh I have had such a busy time the last coupld of weeks, our little boy has been really poorly, plus Liz still not 100%, we think the stroke has made her partially deaf Sad to top is all, I have had to set up another tank as I had two unexpected visitors arrive on my doorstep in a bucket Sad I cant keep them much as I want to. They are being treated for their bite marks and de-wormed.

Their owner had tried to re-home them by taking them to local shops, he was refused by all Mad he couldnt put them back in his tank as they were being attacked by other oscars. They are too cute!!

I am getting really attached to these two, this is the cheekier one of the two, always up the glass first, giving me the "I'm starving" look, considering this one was the most beaten up of the two.

This one is more shy but is slowly coming around.

Considering they are chalk and cheese they are never far apart awwww

Updated picture of Meatball & Noodle, I swear these are male and female!!

Playing in the fresh water during wc

Noodle is unusual as she has gold edges to her tail rather than white. (noodle below)

This is what they are like all day, up and down the tank, meatball leaning on noodle!

Gold edge to Noodle's tail, its very pretty

This is why meatball gives me the shivers....

Chops, look at the look in his eye..

Meatball has that same devil glare!

Right I have had enough of mickey taking, time wasting butt heads off the ad on AC (thats being polite) I am keeping them. Discussing with a friend the 240 should last them around 12 months.

Taking into account their poor condition when they arrived being so skinny (like chops was) I am hegding my bets that these two wont reach their full potential size and may end up around 8" like Chops has, this being the case I can fit a 350l tank where the 240 is now (just the newer style rio 300 holds more water). Hubby has even put his two penneth in by stating even if I do keep them in a smaller tank that required for 2 oscars at least they will be getting the right care, the filtration can be increased to cope and twice a week wc instead of 1 it can be done, my tanks are overstocked as it is and if in a years time they look like they are growing correctly we can sort something out. The real problem of the future is if they fall out, if that happens I have other tanks in storage that can temporarily hold an oscar overnight if needed and take one to Shirley aquatics, who will take fish if its urgent.

Thanks Rusty, I know it seems hypecritical to keep them in a small tank when I am refusing people them as their tanks are not big enough, but on the other side I know that the tank not big enough against someone wanting them for their tank not knowing their tank is not big enough (if that makes sence)
