About 2 inches in length, not quite 3 inches.. he is working on cleaning my back wall right now.. I scraped the algea off 2 weeks ago, but I left some spots for the snails. He is cleaning it up for me.

Dawg.. the Pleco, has apparently taken residency under the cuttlebone I have for the snails, which is what I had hoped to happen, since he would eventually outgrow the castle I have in the tank, and I change decorations every so often, except the cuttlebone. I dropped an algea wafer in for him, and the loaches devoured it. He will learn to fend for his favorite foods. Tomorrow, I will purchase some zuccini for him.

Rubbernose/Bulldog plecs are adorable Very Happy

My dad has two of these in his tank and they are fantastic characters Smile Always out and about on the front of the tank, shimmying up and down to get the algae Very Happy I find that they're a lot more out going than Bristlenoses.

Woke up this morning, and Dawg seems fine. He cleaned all the algea that was left on the back wall, as well as the sides and front. Feeding time is in a few minutes, which will be an interesting event.

Will he ever allow me to enjoy his presence in the tank without running for his castle? I have yet to get a good look at him. I cleaned the tank this afternoon, took out all the plants, vacuumed the gravel, moved his castle from one end to the other, with him secured inside, rescaped, and filled back up, and he never moved a muscle for escape.. rode right along, inside the castle...

Plecs can be pretty shy, not that I have kept a rubbernose, but some can get very tame, my large common likes having his belly tickled, where my golden nugget I so rarely see he scarpers as soon as I go near the tank Sad

It took a good few months for my dads to become confident enough not to dart into hiding all the time. Now they just latch onto the front of the tank and don't bother moving when you go past.

Compared to my bristlenose, who I have gone up to 6 weeks without seeing at all, the bulldogs do become quite comfortable with being out and about Smile

I suppose patience is the word, then.. I turn off the hood lights at 8PM, he comes out in the dark around 9PM... but if I so much as get out of the recliner, he darts for his "man cave"... all I get to see is his sillouette as he surfs the glass, with one eye on his surroundings.

At first they do seem to be braver at night. Hopefully as he gets bigger he'll start to be a bit braver at any time of the day Very Happy
