Chester Zoo

Post by Flute on Sun Jul 01, 2012 11:37 pm

I went to Chester Zoo today for the first time in years, and I've got to say I was really impressed (coming from someone who doesn't usually like zoos) Lovely enclosures and they're doing a lot with conservation, which is brilliant. They had some really beautiful aquarium set ups there too, which I was very happily surprised about. So before I was dragged away I managed to get some photos.

This one was basically my dream tank! A huuuuuuuuge South American set up with Altum Angels, Discus, lemon tetra, rommynose tetra, cardinal tetra, bleed heart tetra, bucket loads of BN plecos and a pretty species of turtle (can't remember what). And what was even cooler? It was a paludarium set up with 2 sloths living above it! (One of my favourite animals Razz)

And some snaps of a few of the other set ups.

I'm not really one for marine set ups, but this guy was amazing looking!
Gutted I didn't get more photos of the other set ups- I wasn't allowed to stay around for as long as I would have liked- apparently fish are boring! Razz

I hadn't realised either. I knew they had tanks, but wasn't expected anything like the SA set up- it was spectacular! Apparently the female sloth is known to take a dip in it from time to time XD

Found out that they had smaller but similar set ups in the elephant and okapi houses, which I missed. So I'll be going back again in the near future Very Happy

That top image is also my perfect tank. Incredible!

Now, how can I convince the OH to let me have one just like it!?
